Apraxia Motor Speech Therapy
Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS) is a motor planning disorder that makes it difficult for children to coordinate the movements needed for speech. Children with CAS know what they want to say, but their brain has difficulty planning and sequencing the movements. Our certified Speech-Language Pathologists provide intensive, evidence-based therapy using Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing (DTTC), PROMPT, and other motor-based approaches proven effective for CAS. Treatment requires high-frequency practice with specific motor planning techniques. We provide parent training for home practice, which is essential for progress. With appropriate therapy, children with CAS can make significant gains in speech production.
