Swallowing Therapy

Dysphagia (swallowing difficulty) can result from stroke, neurological disease, cancer treatment, surgery, or aging. Swallowing problems can be dangerous, leading to aspiration, pneumonia, malnutrition, and dehydration.Our certified Speech-Language Pathologists provide comprehensive dysphagia assessment and treatment. We use instrumental assessment findings (if available from your physician) along with clinical evaluation to develop safe, effective treatment plans.Treatment may include exercises to strengthen swallowing muscles, compensatory strategies, diet modifications, and education for you and your caregivers. Our goal is to help you swallow as safely and efficiently as possible while maintaining the best quality of life.
